Let the miracles begin....

So here we are on count down to when the craziness will begin.

Here at The Willows the tree is up,  the cards are written and posted and all the parcels  are wrapped.

Isn't he just the cutest

The four paws have all been to the groomers to have their pre Christmas shampoo and set.

Finished knitting the cowls for the colleagues at work
but  I forgot in my eagerness to get them finished and wrapped  to take any photo's (Ooops)

I finish work this Friday and not back until 5th January and I can't wait.
Obviously I have told my Consultants that I am devastated at the prospect of not seeing them for two whole weeks and I think I got away with it.

The big clean will take place this weekend prior to family arriving next week and just in case the Queen decides to pay a visit on route to Sandringham (Well you never know if someone has the need for a wee stop)

and of course the inevitable food shop where we buy enough food to feed the village because the Supermarkets are closed for 24hrs

and before you know it the whole thing will be over and another year will have commenced.

Each year we put ourselves through this vowing each year that next year we won't go to all this trouble knowing full well that this time next year we will be doing exactly the same all over again.

How are your preparations going?
Are you still feeling this side of sane?

  1. You're very organised. My tree is up but the presents aren't wrapped, in fact, my cards aren't even written. I'm hoping to do that this evening. Your doggies are looking very dapper, Archie had his hair cut a few weeks ago but it's starting to grow back already, just as well with this cold weather.

    1. I'm trying to be organised Jo but you know what they say about the best laid plans. It would all go oh so wrong before long.... Yes they boys look very dapper it's been pretty cold across the fens so they've not wanted to go out for too long.

  2. Good to see you're organised should the Queen pop by. I'd be quite embarrassed if she called in here at the moment! It will all be done by Christmas Day, I keep telling myself. And lets be honest, what isn't done, no one will mind about anyway! Have a great break. x

    1. This is very true. It's funny isn't it how we all insist on going through this madness the week before Christmas and I've never quite worked out who I do it for. It just feels better come Christmas morning if all in the house is right and ready for the onslaught of the day. Then before you know it we are at boxing day and it's all over for another year.

  3. Wow, how organised are you, but then we have a very quiet Xmas as here in Oz we are all so far apart except for daughter and hers.
We hope to see our two boys by taking our caravan away on Boxing Day for a long weekend and then be home again before the worst of the summer holidays due to both heat and kids being on their long break. Now I know why you've not posted for a while as you been so busy. Have a great Xmas and take care.

    1. Yep between work commitments and trying to get all my crafting bits done and ready I've not had much time for posting but I have been keeping up with what everyone else has been up to even if I've not had the time to leave a comment.

  4. Your furry children all look very well-groomed for Christmas! We are nowhere near so organised...but we both finish work on Friday, which should give us a bit of time to catch back. Jx

    1. They certainly do look smart don't they. I'm not normally this organised I think it just got to last weekend and I had a panic that if I didn't at least make a start then it would all turn into chaos. I at least know the presents and cards are all done, and if the cleaning doesn't quite all get done well whose going to notice.

  5. I'm sure you're looking forward to Friday and the holidays! I know all the members of my family are too! I'm looking forward to the moment when we can do no more prep for Christmas and can just relax and enjoy family and friends time. Being retired I have plenty of time to get organised, but I'm trying to avoid crowded shops right now! Have a lovely break!

    1. I'm with you Linda I cannot stand the shops at this time of year although with on line ordering when I have ventured out it's actually not been too bad but then there is alot to say for late night shopping. I have two out of the three big kids coming this year the eldest son is working all over Christmas and of course there will be me, D and number 3 so there will still be five for dinner on the day. I don't know how some of the bloggers go on who have ten or twelve for Christmas lunch I'd be in meltdown.

  6. I hope you have a great Christmas! Cleaning is like that here, and probably shopping too - because you know 2 people can eat so much in the one day that the shops are shut!! xx

    1. It is ridiculous that we put ourselves through all this every year and generally the food will last us till mid January as we can't possibly eat all that D has bought so far never mind what he is still going out to buy next week. Still the four paws will be well fed.....

    1. Yep they do look rather handsome don't they. Definitely a little excited today but not sure whether it's because Santa is coming or because I am off for two whole weeks. I rather think it may be the latter. Still meeting a friend for Christmas coffee today and another for Christmas coffee tomorrow and then Friday we are all going to get to the hospital early and go to the restaurant for Christmas breakfast....

    1. I don't know about that Kate compared to the house full you have for Christmas lunch my Christmas is very small in numbers but there is still time for it all to go wrong, you know what they say about the best made plans......

  11. A very late comment! I've not had time to look through blogs or blog myself for a fair few weeks as we've been so busy. I hope you had a lovely Christmas and The Queen found your convenience acceptable!!
