September - A Time for change

I know we all celebrate the coming of the New Year every January but, September always feels like a New Year to me.

With the changing of the season

With the changing of leaves to those gorgeous golds, reds & browns

with that little nip in the air when you go out of a morning and even the smell of autumn
and mother nature preparing her natural food store lots of berries and nuts for our wildlife to share during the winter months.

As September comes to a close I think about all the other changes.

All our little one's going off to nursery and school for the first time, our bigger ones moving up to the juniors and on to secondary school.

Massive changes for our teenagers who will have waited nervously throughout the summer to get their GCSE, AS and A level results and  I hope all of yours got the results they wanted or needed.
For some of our teenagers they will have gone on to sixth form and college and some they will have left home for the first time with going off to University or out into the big world of work
(all of which can be a bit scary).

But as number 3 is always telling me this is just part of our life cycle.

Thank you to all of you who left comments about number 3 going off to his new school. So far he tells us that he's loving it and it's better than his old school and he has even been selected to join the after school sports club which is fantastic for a young man that has many challenges ahead of him as he goes into adolescence. He had a fantastic birthday and I think there are going to be a lot of interesting times ahead for us all as he starts this new chapter in his life.

  1. Me to, Autumn always feels like a new year to me, the real new year normally feels like such a slump! I'm glad your son is settling into his new school & was picked for the sports club.

    1. It always feels like there are so many more changes in September than in January. Apart from that's when my birthday falls so I get a year older but not necessarily any the wiser.

  2. I know what you mean, it is kind of like the chance for a new beginning even though it isn't! Turning over a new leaf - or getting rid of an old one! xx

  3. So pleased for Number 3 that he's been selected to join after school sports and that he loves his new school. It must be a relief to you too Mitzi, it's always a worry when they go off to pastures new. Sounds like he's off to a flying start, long may it continue. Enjoy the autumn hues!

  5. Well done to Number 3 being chosen for the after school sports club. There's so many big steps as they grow up, it's just such a relief when everything goes well, especially when they're enjoying the next challenge in their young lives. Daniel starts his second year at uni tomorrow, it's a year today since we made that short journey to move him in, today he's helping to welcome the new intake and show them what's what.

    1. I bet you can't believe how fast that year has gone can you Jo. That and Eleanor starting sixth form. The years just seem to whizz don't they. Number 1 will be 27 next birthday as his sister keeps reminding him that's nearly 30!!!!

  6. Lovely pics, I really like this time of year. That's nice news about your son getting into sports club, and that he is enjoying school. I saw your post previously about his birthday, great cake! My 12 year old is into mine craft too, over the summer he played one called starbound, and now there's a new one called civilizations where they build it all. :)

    1. I get totally confused Gail if I'm honest. He now facetime (or some such thing) with a friend from his old school and they can link up somehow on his Xbox and build things together in Minecraft it's all way beyond my comprehension, to see the characters moving across the screen and yet it's not number 3 that's moving them. Very bizarre. I'm definitely getting old.
